Grades K - 2 use a different grade reporting code. This will be discussed with parents at Back to School Night.
Students will not be included on the Honor Roll or Principal's List if they have received a check mark in the Behavior and Attitude section of their report card, or if they have been suspended during the marking period.
Progress Reports and Failure Warnings
Progress reports and failure warnings will be delivered to parents by their children. They must be signed by parents/guardians and sent back to the teacher as soon as possible, preferably the day after the form is given to the student.
Progress reports are issued between the marking periods to keep parents informed of any lack of progress. These reports are issued only to students who are not doing well in a particular subject. When a report is sent home for unsatisfactory work, parents are expected to follow the directives as set forth by the teacher. Cooperation between the school and the home is absolutely essential for successful academic achievement.
Report Cards
Reports of student progress are issued four times during the school year. In this way, parents are informed of improvement or failure in academic subjects and personal traits. Parents are strongly encouraged to study their child's report carefully, taking special note of any particular weakness so that they can guide their child in making any necessary improvements. An opportunity to discuss students' grades, problems, or progress is provided at scheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Promotion/Retention
Students who satisfactorily meet the requirements for each grade will be promoted. When it becomes evident that it is necessary for a student to repeat the grade, parents will be notified in February. Any student who fails two major subjects for the year will not be promoted.
Primary students must pass Reading and Math. Tests will be administered periodically throughout the marking period at the discretion of the teacher. Examinations will be held at mid-year and at the end of the school year for students in grades 4 - 8.
